
A Wishaw church has been targeted in an act of vandalism that occurred around 1.30am on October 18th.
Plant pots outside of St Peter’s catholic church in the Craigneuk suburb of Wishaw were smashed in an attack that was captured on CCTV.
Speaking after the inicdent, Fr. Krzysztof Garwoliński expressed his thanks for the outpouring of support he recieved from the local community.
He said: “I was overwhelmed by the support from the parishioners and all those who value the parish… I have recieved a wonderful response from the congregation which is visible on the facebook page and I have recieved telephone calls from other priests and parishioners. I am very grateful for the support.”
One act of solidarity came from a local businessman who replaced the pots free of charge.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The incident at St Patrick’s Church is currently being investigated.
“We are looking for any witnesses who may have seen a suspect person walking on Shieldmuir Street or nearby between 1am and 2am this morning.”
