Mary Bastholm, who was 15 at the time she went missing in 1968, is thought to be one of Fred West’s many victims. However, her body has not been discovered in all the decades since her disappearance. Blue material has been discovered in the cellar of the café which is linked to the young woman as she was wearing blue on the day of her disappearance. She also worked at the café in 1968.
Fred West was a serial killer who killed around 12 people between 1967 and 1987. A lot of these murders were done alongside his wife Rose West, who was known for killing Fred’s stepdaughter. They would torture their victims, before dismembering them and burying their bodies at the scene of the crime. Their victims were also mostly young women who were vulnerable but would also trust them. That is why Mary Bastholm is a likely victim of their murderous ways.
Police have started to excavate the café in the hopes of finding strong evidence that Fred West murdered the young girl. They have already discovered blue material within the café and so this may lead onto the findings of a body or remains. It has also been said that police were handling different objects and wooden doors and taking them away. This was yesterday.

As Fred West took his own life on New Year’s Day of 1995, they could not hold him accountable for the murders he committed. He died before he could go on trial for the murders. His wife Rose west may be questioned. However, police are not jumping to any conclusions at the moment. If there are human remains underneath the café, there is no telling that they belong to Mary Bastholm. The city of Gloucestershire is dated back to Roman times so the police are not confirming that the remains of Mary Bastholm will be found.
Gloucestershire police have said that based on the information they have been given about the young girl, they are looking for her body in the cellar of the café. The children of Fred and Rose West have also expressed that they want thee family of the young girl to finally have closure.
