STARMER BACKS PLANS ON RUSSIAN BAN FROM SWIFT

Labour Leader, Sir Keir Starmer has backed the Governments plans to remove Russia from the the International payment system Swift.

Speaking on the BBC Breakfast show Starmer is adamant that removing Russia from Swift is a ‘now decision’ and the Labour Party is fully supportive of the UK Government on doing so.

As part of the UK’s sanctioning plans towards Russia. The Government have announced that all major Russian banks have their assets frozen and removed from the UK Financial system and have set a limit on deposits which Russians can send to UK associated bank accounts.

Major Russian airline Aerofloat are also now banned from landing on British shores.

Meanwhile in America, President Biden has also sanctioned President Putin’s Russia. He announced that four major Russian banks will have their assets frozen and be cut off from US dollar transactions- two of the banks targeted are VTB and Russian State backed backed bank Sberbank.

In Germany plans have been put on hold for the for Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline which goes from Russia to Germany to open.

European football governing body Uefa have stripped Russia of the Champions League Final which was scheduled for the end of May, will now be played in Paris. Uefa are also ready to terminate their contract with main sponsor Gazprom a deal which is with an estimated £66 million.
