Rangers have declared their interest in signing 23-year-old Aberdeen winger Scott Wright according to the Pittodrie club.

The Dons winger only has six months remaining on his current contract meaning that if the Gers were unable to negotiate a deal in the current transfer window, the player could be snapped up on a pre-contract for the summer.

Wright has made 13 Premiership appearances for Aberdeen this season finding the net on two occasions.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has made it clear that the player sees his future away from from the north east as he told the Evening Express:

“It looks as if Scott is looking at trying something different, maybe looking down south unfortunately.

“From our point of view, we are really keen for Scott to stay, but he just wants to keep his options open at the minute.

“We have done all we can to try and get Scott to stay. But we are now four months in and are not any further forward.

“We have not been able to reach an agreement. Scott and his agent have indicated they want to look at options and are not in a position to commit.”

Wright, who has previously had a loan at Dundee, has been in and out of the team and it has only really been this season he has had a guaranteed starting jersey.

Rangers look to do business in the January window.

Steven Gerrard is also reportedly interested in Zambian forward Fashion Sakala.

The striker currently plays for KV Oostende in Belgium and has scored six goals in 16 appearances this season.

FC Honka striker Juan Alegria could also be committing his future to Ibrox as he is believed to be a top target for the Auchenhowie youth department.

The striker would be following in the footsteps of Colombian counterpart Alfredo Morelos making the move from Columbia to Scotland via Finland.

Elsewhere, Hibs are close to signing midfielder Jackson Irvine while Aberdeen may look to a new loan after Ryan Edmondson returned to Leeds United.
