BRAVE bathers have been invited to dive into a fundraiser – with a Boxing Day Dip in the sea.
Ayrshire Cancer Support are appealing for hardy loony dookers to help raise £30,000 by plunging into the waves at Ayr Beach on December 26. And those who raise at least £400 will get a free Oodie hooded blanket.
Fundraising manager Nicola George said: “What a wonderful way to spend Boxing Day morning and such a fun way to raise vital funds for children, young people and adults affected by cancer in Ayrshire.
“We are hoping to raise £30,000, as it’s only through fundraisers like these that we can continue to deliver our free services to the thousands of people who rely on us every year.”
Dookers can meet at Ayr’s Blackburn Car Park. There will be safety precautions in place, including a medical team and coastguards.
The charity recommends teaming up with others for safety reasons. They, also, encourage fancy dress, saying “the sillier, the better, we want to see your best funny outfits.”
Another spokesperson added: “How many times have you said you want to try something new? It’s time to get your feet wet and join us all on Monday 26th December at 11am for a refreshing dip in the Ayrshire sea.
“Sign up for Ayrshire’s Boxing Day Dip, take the plunge and raise money for Ayrshire’s leading cancer charity. Every year, individuals endure the cold sea to take a dip on Boxing Day. Why not take the dive?”
There is no age limit for the dip, but people under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
