On Sunday, the 6th of December, Floyd Mayweather posted to his official Instagram page to announce his next fight. To the surprise of many, the unofficial greatest of all time has decided to go toe to toe with controversial youtuber Logan Paul. Now the fight is only two weeks away.
Logan Paul who is a 0-1 professional boxer who has been training for over 2 years will fight ‘Money’ Mayweather who is 50-0 on February 20th in what is being labelled as a ‘super exhibition’.
For many combat sports fans this is an outrageous idea. To have the undefeated former 5 weight world champion step into the ring with a youtuber.
Professional boxer and fan of Mayweather, Giavanni Ruffin had this to say about the announcement of the bout.
On the other side of the fight, many youtubers reacted. Paul’s former foe who defeated him in his professional debut at the staples centre in November 2019, KSI kept it simple and sweet.
Dana White who is the president of the leading MMA promotion in the World the Ultimate Fighting Championship has worked with Mayweather on a handful of occasions with the most notable being for Floyds bout against the most well known Mixed martial artist in the world, Conor McGregor.
White had this to say:
Most of the press over the fight has been negative, listing it as easy money for Floyd Mayweather JR. Mayweather who last stepped in a boxing ring on New Year’s Eve 2018 against a Japanese Kickboxer in another exhibition bout that he won inside the first round.
The difference between this fight and Floyd’s other 50 is that this is not inside a desired weight class. With the fighters having over a 50-pound weight difference and Paul being 6,2 will be looking down on Mayweather who is 5,8.
Many outrageous claims have been said suggesting if ‘the Maverick’ Paul catches Mayweather he could be the first and only man on the planet to knock out Mayweather because of the size difference in the bout.
If fans want to buy the fight right now it will cost them $24.99 but the longer, they wait the more the price goes up by. Mike Bohn, Combat sport journalist give a more detailed look at the PPV pricing.
With the fight only being revealed to the world a couple of months ago and the amount of negativity around it I can guarantee it will continue but the spectacle it will provide will be huge. With many fans tuning into the battle between the two men.
hey man, great article. love It!
