As most of the country headed into tier 2, except from those in the council area of Glasgow city, one of those things that we all used to take for granted managed to reopen with cinemas all over the country opening their doors for the first time in 2021.

Due to the pandemic lots of films release dates got pushed back and with the cinemas now managing to finally open to the public again film fanatics are in for a treat for the remainder of the year as we look at 5 exciting movies coming to a cinema near you in 2021.

  1. The MCU
Scarlet Johansson will finally star in her own standalone MCU film.

There are four movies releasing in 2021 as part of phase 4 of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe”. Following the hugely successful “Avengers: Endgame” came the second instalment in the series of Spider-Man movies starring Tom Holland to complete phase 3. Millions had been awaiting to see what comes next in Marvel’s blockbuster series of movies but were kept waiting due to coronavirus. However, with life returning to some sort of normality here is what marvel fans can look forward to seeing this coming year:

Black Widow – 9 July 2021

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – 3 September 2021

Eternals – 5 November 2021

Spider-Man: No Way Home – 17 December 2021

 

  1. Fast 9
John Cena follows in the footsteps of Dwane “The Rock” Johnson in joining the Fast and Furious franchise.

Another blockbuster series of movies getting a new instalment in 2021 is the ninth film in the “Fast and Furious” franchise. One of the biggest franchises in the 21st century, Vin Diesel and co return to our big screens 24 June 2021. Also starring John Cena, two hours of fast-paced car action is just what we have been needing to help escape from what has been a very dull and boring year and half.

 

  1. Cruella
Emma Stone is set to star in Cruella

Releasing on 28 May 2021 on both Disney+ and in cinemas, Emma Stone stars as the title character in the highly anticipated prequel of the classic 101 dalmatians. The movie looks at a young Cruella and the journey she takes in becoming the infamous “Cruella de Vil”. With the nostalgia this movie brings it one that will attract both kids and adults.

 

  1. A Quiet Place: Part II
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt

John Krasinski returns to his role of starring and directing in “A Quiet Place: Part II”. Following the success of the first movie which also starred Krasinski’s wife Emily Blunt the sequel is highly anticipated and has the fans excited to see “Peaky Blinders” star Cillian Murphy return to the big screen. Coming to cinemas 4 June 2021 the whole cinema will be on the edge of their seats biting their nails.

 

 

 

  1. Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Venom

Another Hollywood actor and “Peaky Blinders” star Tom Hardy will return to the big screens this year with sequel to 2018’s “Venom”. Despite not being a hit with the critics, audiences had been calling for a sequel to the action-packed comedy. Releasing later this year on 17 September 2021, Tom Hardy is joined by Woody Harrelson in this star-studded cast.
