After two years of development and months of merciless teasing, Rihanna’s debut makeup line Fenty Beauty is finally here.

Pop star Rihanna swapped the microphone for makeup as she stepped out in NYC at her “Fenty Beauty” launch in a gorgeous yellow Oscar de la Renta two piece, very reminiscent of her famous met gala 2015 outfit, and greeted the masses as people flocked to Sephora to snap up the new collection and catch a glimpse of the queen herself.
Having already taken on a broad array of non-musical ventures and collaborations, including creating her own fashion line, Fenty x Puma, and becoming the first black spokeswoman for Dior, her entrance into cosmetics has been anticipated for years
Rihanna said “It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, but I’ve always had so much on my hands,” she said. “But, this time, I’m going to make sure it happens. I’m going to find some time between albums and fragrance to do that. I promise.”
It wasn’t until this year, 2017 that Fenty Beauty really seemed like it was going to happen. She had began tweeting that it would launch in the fall and would often tease the brand on her Instagram account (@badgalriri) leaving the fans wanting more. It was on September first that the official ad dropped showing the launch would only be a week later. It was a very clever marketing technique by her, not one typically used by many brands.
The actual campaign itself is great. It shouldn’t be a rarity that a beauty campaign features a diverse range of models in terms of size and skin tone but unfortunately it is but Rihanna managed to bring us a diverse range of beauties, to fit along with her diverse shade range, and showcase a new era of representation within the cosmetic industry. Fenty is really giving other brands a run for their money as other popular lines have been quick to promote products and models darker skin tones in an effort to keep up, which in a way is a positive change for everyone.

Now on to the fun part. What the collection contains:
There are primers, long-wear foundations in 40 shades, highlighters, concealer and blush sticks, blotting powder and paper, lip-gloss, and make-up sponges and brushes. Prices range from £19 to £46
So even though it may seem that she may be starting with the basics, its giving people time fall in love with the brand before bringing out every product that is possible. Pretty sure it’s well known that it’s already a favourite within the beauty industry.
Beauty blogger Em Talks said in her popular blog “Rihanna has created every detail of each product in her collection, which makes me love it even more. So often people put their name to their product but don’t actually have much say. It’s clear that her passions and designs have come to life here, resulting in a beautiful brand for everyone. From the playful names, the epic shades, the insane glow and, the fact that she has included everyone. Fenty beauty is here to stay”.
Well, it’s obvious that Fenty Beauty has firmly positioned itself within the industry, left other brands shook and has left us wanting more. We shall wait in anticipation for the next drop and discover more of Rihanna’s secrets for a beautiful face.
If you want to snap up the collection you can find it at Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh or online. Just be careful to try and not spend all your money. Just kidding, we all know that’s not happening.
